Johnson City Tennessee factory worker, Inc. Magazine, golden years, senior, portrait photographer, Nashville editorial photographer, Nashville advertising photographer
I photographed these folks while shooting a feature for Inc. Magazine. The main story was about employer who implemented nicotine testing as a way to screen his employees and avoid high insurance costs. We had set up, and several employees clocked in to start their second shift. So I couldn’t resist taking their portraits too... I discovered that some of them have been working in the same building longer than the company they work for has occupied the space. They are the local workforce. And some have spent 25 years getting hired and laid off, then rehired to work at the same facility or gave up smoking to keep their jobs.
